Sermons on 1 Corinthians:

Judge for Yourselves (1 Cor 6:1-6)

  I.  INTRODUCTION.

            A. We live in a society where people will sue for absolutely anything.

                  1. No doubt, you’ve heard about Roy L. Pearson’s suing Custom Cleaners.

II.  WHY DO YOU JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES?, vv. 1-3.

                        c. Is it not true that judges today are often ungodly?

            D. What are we to take away from this text?

                  1. We never, ever air our dirty laundry in front of the world.

                        c. Can not the same sort of thing occur among us today?

III.  HOW DO YOU JUDGE AMONG YOURSELVES?, vv. 4-6.

IV.  SOME QUESTIONS.

            C. Second question: Do I have the right to sue a non-Christian or a corporation?

                  1. Absolutely.  Paul’s words here have to do with taking a fellow believer to court.

                  3. If everything fails, I would assert that we do have a right to defend ourselves in court.
